Twitter ads now available for Australian SMEs, social media giant looks at rolling out the buy button down under

Twitter has finally rolled out its Twitter Ads service for SMEs in Australia, with a senior executive also admitting the likely end point of the social media giant’s current buy button trials in the US is a global rollout including Australia.

In a post on its official blog, Twitter claims its pricing model will see SMEs only pay for actions that align with their marketing objectives.

Twitter also says around 62% of consumers have purchased products from an SME because of Twitter, while a further 70% say they feel better about an SME after following them and reading their tweets.

Twitter’s vice president of global online sales, Richard Alfonsi, told SmartCompany’s sister site StartupSmart the move could potentially lead to an Australian rollout of the buy button, a feature the social media giant is trialling in the US.

“Right now it’s the early test phase. But it is another important format or call to action that an advertiser can use, giving consumers the chance to complete the transaction without leaving Twitter,” Alfonsi said.

The “buy” button feature, first rumoured in August and introduced on a trial basis in the US during September, came after Facebook rolled out a similar feature earlier this year. Businesses interested in signing up to Twitters Ads need to create an account here.
