Microsoft acquires business intelligence and data visualisation software Datazen

Businesses using Microsoft will be able to create interactive dashboards with their data on their mobile devices, following the tech giant’s acquisition of business intelligence and data visualisation software Datazen.

Microsoft announced it had snapped up the three-year-old business intelligence software company for an undisclosed sum via a blog post.

“Companies around the world need simpler ways to find data insights they can use to improve their business,” said Microsoft.

“With the pervasive use of mobile devices at work, mobile business intelligence (BI) is at a tipping point. Datazen is a mobile-first company at the forefront of this wave, with enterprise customers around the globe using its technology.”

Businesses will be able to use data from Microsoft Excel, as well as the company’s cloud and enterprise databases, to create data visualisations on their Windows, iOS and Android devices.
