Downloading and streaming is booming, according to a new report from Nielsen Online.
More than one-third of Australian internet users have downloaded audio and video content and about 20% and gathering video content everyday, reports The Australian Financial Review.
Audio content is most popular, with 44% of users downloading audio, including music and radio podcasts. Video has been downloaded by 36% of internet users.
Music is most popular over movies and other video content. Men are bigger downloaders of music and videos than women.
The free stuff is most popular, but 34% of users have paid for downloads and 15% have paid for streaming audio or video content.
Just over a third of consumers polled by Nielsen said they would tolerate online advertising if it meant the content was free.
