Online security vendor Symantec has admitted that its internal servers were hacked during 2006.
According to CNet the source code for a number of Symantec’s products, including Norton Antivirus, was stolen during the attack.
The company points out that the code in question is five years old, and that most customers using current versions of their software are at no greater risk as a result of the breach.
The news comes as a timely reminder that businesses must remain vigilant about online security, as no computer network is infallible.
