Apple may scrap its classic iPod line-up to make way for touchscreen devices, according to a new report from TUAW.
The report comes after some websites have speculated for a while now on whether Apple would continue selling the device, which has been sold in one format or another for the past decade.
The story states that the “product transition” apple hinted at a while ago could come within the iPod product line, with the iPod Shuffle and iPod Classic named specifically.
Insiders have reported for some time that Apple views the future of its products as rooted in touchscreens – scrapping the iPod Classic in favour of the iPod Touch as its basic device would strengthen that approach.
