Broadband users continue to not see wireless broadband as a serious option for home internet access, a survey shows.
However, most respondents were supportive of the National Broadband Network, although half were unhappy with the way the project is being handled by the Federal Government.
The Australian Broadband Survey, which was completed 25,513 times on the online forum Whirlpool in the month to February 1, shows just 31.2% say wireless broadband is a “serious option”.
The result has been the same for about three years, Whirlpool says, despite improvements in 3G speed and coverage.
The survey also found that 58.7% or respondents felt ‘positive’ or ‘very positive’ about the project, but 49.9% described the Government’s handling of the project as either ‘poor’ or ‘abysmal’.
According to the website, the respondents were “informed opinion leaders, and informed consumers”, and “more likely to be advising friends, family and co-workers on technology decisions.
