Google has unveiled a new feature to help reduce the frequency of user downloads of malicious executable files.
On its blog, the search engine giant says the internet is still “rife” with deceptive content that “uses social engineering to entice users to download and run the malicious content”.
A warning – “This file appears to be malicious. Are you sure you want to continue?” – will be displayed for any URL that matches the latest list of malicious websites published by the Safe Browsing feature, Google says.
