Former HP chief executive Mark Hurd, who resigned after admitting to creating false expense reports to cover a relationship with a colleague, has joined the board of Oracle.
In a statement, the company also said Charles Phillips has resigned as president and director. Hurd will serve as co-president.
“Mark did a brilliant job at HP and I expect he’ll do even better at Oracle,” Oracle chief executive Larry Ellison said in a statement.
“There is no executive in the IT world with more relevant experience than Mark. Oracle’s future is engineering complete and integrated hardware and software systems for the enterprise. Mark pioneered the integration of hardware with software when Teradata was a part of NCR.”
Last month during the Hurd scandal, Ellison blasted the HP board for letting Hurd go, saying that it was the “worst personnel decision” since Apple fired Steve Jobs.
