A new study from IBM has revealed 77% of C-level executives in Britain have said their organisation experienced a data breached within the previous 12 months.
Additionally, the survey found that data protection initiatives resulted in an average cost savings of $US16 million for businesses.
It also found that while 75% of the survey’s respondents view the chief information officer as the person responsible for protecting data, 82% said they would not fire a CIO if they failed to stop a data breach.
Only 18% of chief executives believe attacks happen hourly or frequently, with 34% of C-level executives believing this to be the case.
