A hospital in Britain will embark on a plan to treat teenagers addicted to the internet, computer games or mobile phones.
The Capio Nightingale Hospital will offer treatment through in-patient, day care or group therapy for teenagers and 12-year-olds, although the target demographic is aged between 15-17 years.
“I’ve been contacted by parents who see their children going into a rage when they’re told to turn off their computer,” Capio lead consultant Richard Graham told the London Evening Standard. “Some end up having to call the police.”
“Mental health services need to adapt quickly to the changing worlds that young people inhabit, and understand just how seriously their lives can be impaired by unregulated time online, on-screen or in-game.”
