After quitting social network Facebook after being swamped with friend requests, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has rejoined the site.
Last year Gates wrote “it was just way too much trouble so I gave it up”, but he has launched both a new Facebook page and Twitter account.
Silicon Valley blog TechCrunch has confirmed the page is real, and the site seems to have solved his previous problem – the page is “open”, meaning anyone can view the page’s content without Gates’ approval.
On his Twitter page, among his first messages are related to raising funds for the Haiti earthquake crisis, a current focus of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
