Social network Twitter has reached a new benchmark, according to one of its executives, with January 11 apparently recording the site’s highest usage ever.
The message was tweeted by co-founder Evan Williams, but he did not give any other indications of how the data was measured or what metrics were used.
“Across all metrics that matter, yesterday was Twitter’s highest-usage day ever. (And today will be bigger.)” he wrote in a tweet message.
The messages comes after a number of analytics firms have noted Twitter’s plateau in the number of unique visitors it is attracting to the site, compared to other social networks such as Facebook.
However, if the service is now gaining record usage numbers on a day where no major news topics are being tweeted, then it could mean the service’s popularity is on the rise.
