The US Department of Homeland security has begun to recruit over 1,000 cyber security professionals in order to help defend its networks against hackers.
“Effective cybersecurity requires all partners — individuals, communities, government entities and the private sector — to work together to protect our networks and strengthen our cyber resiliency,” secretary Janet Napolitano said in a statement.
“This new hiring authority will enable DHS to recruit the best cyber analysts, developers and engineers in the world to serve their country by leading the nation’s defenses against cyber threats.”
The type of jobs available cover a wide range of responsibilities, with salaries ranging from $US73,000 to $US153,000.
The Department said it is looking for experts in cyber incident response, vulnerability detection and assessment, cyber risk and strategic analysis and intelligence and investigation.
