A great boss – or a bad one – plays a huge part in shaping your work life. But it’s often impossible to get to know a boss before you sign on the dotted line. Now, a South African website is trying to address this lack of transparency by allowing employees to evaluate their bosses online.
GetaGreatBoss.com charges $US220 to initiate a review, which includes emails to employees for feedback on their boss’s managerial style. All feedback is kept anonymous, and the bosses can even conduct online conversations with the anonymous employee reviewers, who receive commissions for their participation.
The site hopes to attract managers and employees looking for honest feedback, but says it will also help quality bosses attract new employees with an online jobs listing which links to reviews of the bosses in question.
“People join companies but they leave bosses. We believe people should join companies because of great bosses,” the website says.
Bosses can also pay an extra US$10 per month to keep an active link to the review for use in their resume.
