Facebook hacker steals cash from woman’s friends

Facebook hackers have scammed at least $1,000 from the friends of a South Australian woman, after taking control of her account and telling friends she had been robbed at gunpoint overseas.

Posing as former military IT employee Natasha Cann, the hackers sent requests for $10,000 to 400 friends. They deleted Cann’s own posts and changed her password and attached email account.

But Facebook doesn’t provide a contact number for emergency situations like this one, and left the account open for 12 hours after Cann sent an email asking the company to close it.

Unlike banks, the social networking group does not hold any responsibly for users’ financial losses.
