One IT firm that’s actually hiring

Internet service provider Internode is on the lookout for new staff, saying it has recorded growth despite declines in the broadband market.

Internet chief executive Patrick Tapper has told ITwire.com that the company will employ over 50 people in customer service, help-desk and finance departments, while saying the company expects to meet 2008-09 targets of $130 million in revenue.

“The biggest challenge for us is finding the right people for our customers,” he said. “We need the right people in our customer service and help desk areas because having a helpful attitude towards customers is what sets Internode apart from many of our competitors.

“Another important differentiator is that, at a time when many of our rivals are sending support jobs offshore to keep down their costs, Internode remains committed to keeping its customer service and help-desk facilities in Australia. We believe it makes good business sense to keep these jobs here.”
