Microsoft’s Office 365 Personal subscriptions, first announced in March, are now available in Australia, as chief executive Satya Nadella announces a “data culture” for the company.
The Office 365 Personal subscription costs $9 per month or $89 per year, and allows a single user to connect one PC or Mac and one iPad or Windows tablet, along with his or her smartphone, to the productivity package.
The subscription includes the full installed versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher and Access, along with full document editing in the online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.
Subscribers also get 20 gigabytes of additional OneDrive cloud storage and 60 free Skype world calling minutes per month, allowing calls to mobiles, PCs and landlines.
The new product is positioned as an entry-level product between Office 365 Home (which allows five users) and the free Office package, which allows users to view (but not edit) their documents.
The news comes on the same day new chief executive Satya Nadella made a speech announcing more integration between Microsoft various cloud-based offerings, including SQL Server, BI, Machine Learning, Bing and Azure.
“Building out a comprehensive platform that can enable this kind of ambient intelligence is a whole company initiative that we are uniquely qualified to undertake,” he said.
During his speech, Nadella also said he wanted to establish a data culture within Microsoft.
“We believe that with the right tools, insights can come from anyone, anywhere, at any time. When that happens, organizations develop what we describe as a ‘data culture’.”
