Every day we are presented with new technology and innovations. However, for me, technology really sings when it’s applied to an existing process and makes our life just a little bit easier. Take the process of opening a bank account, certainly nothing sexy and traditionally was a manually intensive process involving paper forms, digging up supporting artifacts, faxing, scanning and plenty of human interaction.
UBank (a subsidiary of NAB) has developed a 100% online application that allows you to literally be transacting in your new savings account within 10 minutes. The underlying technology is nothing flash – a composite application utilising web forms and third party data source API’s. However, it has been applied using careful thought that saves users time and effort, isn’t that what technology is all about?
