LG has launched its latest flagship smartphone, the G3, confirming most of the tech specs the company accidentally published earlier this week through one of its official websites.
As SmartCompany reported on Monday, key details about the device, including the resolution of its 5.5-inch display, its processor, camera resolution and 3000 mAh replaceable battery were all accidentally published on a spec sheet on its UK website.
The only detail that appears to be inaccurate from the leaked specifications is the maximum capacity of microSD cards usable with the device, which is officially just 128 gigabytes, compared to 2 terabytes in the leaked specifications.
The Android-based smartphone will be available in a range of colours including metallic black, silk white, shine gold, moon violet and burgundy red, with the company promising a fingerprint-resistant matte metallic finish.
As with its predecessor, the volume and power buttons are located on the back of the device, rather than on the side.
Other features include a personal assistant feature called “Smart Notice”, a redesigned user interface, the ability to hide personal content when the device is shared with someone else, and the ability to wipe all stored information if it is lost or stolen.
The new device was unveiled in a series of launch events in London, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul, coming just a week before Apple’s Word Wide Developer Conference, which runs from June 2 to 6.
LG is beginning the rollout of the device today in South Korea, with the company claiming 170 carriers worldwide have signed up for the device, although there are currently no details on when it will be launched in Australia.
