HP has announced the Australian release of its Slate21 all-in-one PC system at a recommended retail price of $599 as part of a product line refresh.
The device was one of two Android PCs unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show in January, along with Lenovo’s N308 Table PC, and is expected to begin shipping in late April or May.
The new device comes preinstalled with Android 4.3 KitKat, and is built around a NVidia Tegra 4 quad-core processor running at 1.66 GHz.
It includes a 21.5-inch IPS full HD touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
An interesting feature of the device is that it includes a HDMI-input and USB upstream cable, allowing the device to be used as a touchscreen monitor for a Windows PC, toggling between Windows and Android.
In a statement, HP says the new device is aimed at the low-end business market, with MDM-style containerisation provided through pre-installed Citrix software.
“Certified Citrix ready and HDX verified, the business Android AiO also delivers a virtual workspace with secure data and Windows application support via Citrix Receiver, allowing users to access apps without compromising security.”
Aside from the new Android PC, HP also announced the release of a 21-inch all-in-one running Windows 8.1, dubbed the ProOne 400 G1, along with a small desktop PC called the EliteDesk 800 G1 Business Desktop Mini.
