Google Play Australia adds television shows for both iOS and Android, including Game of Thrones and Glee

Google has announced it is adding television show downloads to its Google Play store in Australia.

In a statement, the company says that it will charge viewers $2.99 per episode to download programs, with some shows also offering a season pass.

It will also let viewers preview some series by watching the first episode for free.

Shows initially available through the service include Game of Thrones (seasons one to three), Girls (seasons one and two), House of Cards (season one), Breaking Bad (all seasons), The Wire (seasons one to five), Boardwalk Empire (seasons one to four), The Newsroom (seasons one and two), Glee (seasons one to four) and Keeping up with the Kardashians (seasons one to eight).

The company will also have a number of local shows available, including Housos, East West 101, Wilfred, Gourmet Farmer, Danger 5, Go Back to Where You Came From, Cloudstreet and Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures.

“Whether you’re a fan of comedy, drama or documentaries, there’s something on Google Play to suit your TV tastes,” Google Play product manager Ben Serridge says in a statement.

Users of Apple iOS will be able to access the service by downloading the Google Play Movies and TV app from the iTunes App store.

Android users will get the added bonus of pinning TV shows, allowing them to watch episode even when they’re offline.
