Google Glass with prescription lenses and Titanium Collection frames announced ahead of launch

Google has officially announced that it will offer the possibility of prescription lenses as well as its Titanium Collection of frames for Google Glass, ahead of its official launch later this year.

The collection includes four designs, named Split, Thin, Bold and Curve.

“Whether you wear prescription glasses or just want a new look, we’ve got four feather-light titanium frames designed just for you,” Google says in a statement.

Aside from offering prescription lenses, Google will also offer a version of Glass that works with sunglasses.

The tech giant also announced a deal with US-based health insurance company VSP (Vision Service Plan), which it says will offer rebates for prescription Google Glass lenses under some plans.

“If you need prescription lenses and have vision insurance (such as VSP), your policy might even help cover your new frames,” Google states.

While the company is making the new frames available to selected developers through its Glass Explorers program, Google Glass will not be released to the general public until later this year.
