Google has rolled out upgrades to its Google Apps Mobile Management for Android and Gmail platforms, including a new feature that will potentially benefit email marketers.
In the latest Gmail upgrade, every message that gets flagged as spam will now have the reason why that happened listed at the top. The feature will potentially help small businesses using email or content marketing troubleshoot why messages to Gmail users are failing to get through.
Other new features in the Gmail upgrade are the ability to save attachments directly to a users’ Google Drive (rather than a computer, smartphone or tablet) and improved support for right-to-left languages, such as Hebrew or Arabic.
Android users will also be able to quickly access the navigation menu from a message, including settings, help and feedback, by swiping from the left edge of the screen.
The tech giant is also rolling out Google Apps Mobile Management for Android, a service allowing businesses to remotely manage apps on bring your own device smartphones and tablets running Android.
The update will allow IT admins to automatically wipe access to company-owned Google services from devices that have been inactive for a predetermined period of time and the ability to automatically block “compromised” devices containing a custom ROM or bootloader.
The update also adds support for EAP-based Wi-Fi networks and gives admins a host of new information about devices, including the device serial number, IMEI, MEID, Wi-Fi MAC address, baseband version, kernel version, build number, mobile carrier, language settings, and account ownership.
