Yet another company sues Samsung for patent infringement – this time over vacuum cleaners

Samsung is no stranger to accusations of patent infringement – with the South Korean tech giant now being accused of really sucking in the original product design department.

According to the BBC, British vacuum cleaner magnate Sir James Dyson claims Samsung’s Motion Sync vacuum cleaner infringes on a patented steering mechanism used in Dyson vacuum cleaners.

“This looks like a cynical rip-off,” Dyson says.

“Samsung has many patent lawyers so I find it hard not to believe that this is a deliberate or utterly reckless infringement of our patent.

“We have been forced to issue proceedings in the English High Court, but I would much rather invest in research to develop new technology than have to sue.”

For its part, Samsung is denying the accusation.

“We will take all necessary measures, including legal actions, to protect our technological innovation against Dyson’s groundless claims,” a Samsung spokesperson says.

The latest accusations come a year after Apple won a high-profile patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung.
