Internet standards organisation W3C is entering the final stages of developing the HTML5 standard, and is chartering its HTML Working Group to begin work on the HTML6 standard.
The organisation recently announced that it has begun the search for new editors to work on the final recommended HTML5 and HTML Canvas 2D specifications.
Parallel to this, the organisation will begin work on a successor to the HTML5 standard, known as HTML6.
W3C also notes that market adoption of the new HTML5 standard remains strong, with major web browsers and authoring tools already implementing key parts of the HTML5 standard, with the new features being adopted by major media sites, mobile content providers, and web-based gaming companies.
