Despite millions of dollars in advertising, Microsoft’s Bing now trails the Russian-language search engine Yandex in worldwide search engine rankings.
According to ComScore figures republished by TechWeek Europe, Google still overwhelmingly dominates the search market with more than 62% of the worldwide marketshare, despite the fact that it remains banned in China.
Google is followed by China’s Baidu with 8.2% worldwide market share, Yahoo! with 4.9% and Yandex with 2.8%.
In comparison, despite spending millions of dollars in advertising, Microsoft’s Bing only claims around 2.5%.
Yandex has come to dominate the Russian-language search market with an estimated marketshare of 62%, compared to just 26% for Google.
