BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion has begun a trial program that will see 120 major enterprise and government customers receive its next generation BlackBerry 10 smartphones, as new details of the platform’s launch emerge.
According to The Verge, major tech news organisations in the US have received invitations to the official unveiling of the company’s next-generation BlackBerry 10 platform, which will take place in New York on January 30.
The invitations feature the headline “The BlackBerry experience: Re-designed. Re-engineered. Re-invented”, promising reporters “the world is waiting but you can see it first”.
With the launch now officially a little over a month away, the Canadian smartphone maker has begun sending out trial BlackBerry 10 smartphones to more than 120 government and enterprise customers – including 54 Fortune 500 companies – as part of its “technical review program”.
According to The Next Web, the pre-production BlackBerry 10 smartphones will allow large enterprises to beta test and evaluate the company’s BlackBerry Messenger 10 platform with the hope that some will decide to upgrade.
