New research from Roy Morgan has revealed that 37% of Australian video game players are female.

According to a report on news.com.au, the survey found 3.8 million respondents aged 14 or over had played a game on their household console in the past year.

The survey, conducted in May for Microsoft Australia, revealed that 54% of girl gamers play games only once a month or less, but over 25% of females play games a few times a week, and 17% play a few times a month.

The average household income for Australian females who play games is $76,300, although 44% of respondents were aged between 14 and 24.
