The company sent reporters invitations to the event titled “Let’s rock,” with an image of a man jumping in the air listening to an iPod, but no further details were provided.

The Age reported American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu as saying Apple needs to cut its iPod prices, because its iPhone is marketed as cheaper while boasting more features.

Currently, Apple’s Australian store is selling iPods from anywhere between $65 for an iPod shuffle to $399 for the advanced iPod Touch.
