Netflix has announced that it has signed up 1 million subscribers since launching its service in the UK and Ireland seven months ago.
According to Tom’s Hardware, the UK and Ireland market has had the highest take-up rate for the service of any new market the company has expanded to, with the milestone reached despite the company not launching the DVD rental part of its service in the UK.
The UK subscriber base comes on top of the 20 million subscribers the service has in the US, as well as additional consumers in international markets.
The strong take-up rate for the service in an English-speaking market other than the US is good news for Australian consumers eager for the service to expand down under.
