Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai has responded to the company’s record $US 6.4 billion losses by announcing a new strategy, along with 10,000 job cuts worldwide.
The Guardian reports that the new “One Sony” strategy will include an increased focus on its mobile electronics and healthcare businesses, along with the integration of the PlayStation Network across the company’s consumer product line.
The company will also cut around 10,000 jobs (6% of its global workforce) and examine the possible sale of non-core business units.
Last week, Sony announced record annual losses of $6.4 billion, less than two weeks after Hirai replaced outgoing CEO Sir Howard Stringer.
