There has been some speculation recently about whether the growth of Google’s share of the paid click market is faltering, but new figures for March show it continues to dominate search.
WebProNews reports Nielsen online data showing Google snared 58.7% of online searches in the US in March 2008, a 25.5% increase on the same time last year.
With some 4,790,000 US searches for the month, Google was well ahead of its nearest competitor in Yahoo, which achieved just over 1,480,000 searches – 18.1% of the total market.
Significantly, however, Yahoo’s share as against this time last year has gone backwards – its current market share is 4.5% less than it was in March 2007.
MSN/Windows Live Search came in third with 12% of search, followed by AOL on 4.1% and Ask.com on 2.4%.
