Digg opens Digg Reader to the public

Digg has opened its new RSS reader application to the public, in the rush of new services coming online as Google prepares to discontinue its Reader services for good.

Google announced the change earlier this year, and users have responded negatively, wondering why such a popular service should be discontinued.

Many developers of RSS reader services have been working on making their programs independent. Digg announced its Digg Reader service last month, and now, has made the program open to the public.

In a blog post, the company said the program is still missing several key features, and also promises an Android app will be made available “in the next few weeks”.
Digg has also promised integration with digital notes program Evernote in the coming months, along with premium, paid features.
