The Australian PC hardware market recorded a 12% dip in unit shipments during the first quarter of 2012 to 1.35 million units, according to new figures from IDC.
Unit shipments were soft across the retail, business, and education sectors, with education in particular suffering from the end of the Federal Government’s Digital Education Revolution program.
In terms of Australian marketshare, HP led the sector during the quarter with 19% of the market, ahead of second placed Apple on 14%.
Acer (14%), Dell (13%) and Lenovo (9%) rounded out the remaining top five spots by marketshare.
