Computer and tech group Apple has hired the head of Yale University’s business school to run an educational program it has dubbed “Apple university”.

The Wall Street Journal reports Joel Podolny will join “Apple university” in 2009, but Apple is refusing to disclose any information about his role.

Yale president Richard Levin announced Podolny was leaving his position effective 1 November.

Other tech companies have set up “universities” for its employees – notably computer animation group Pixar, which set up its university for its employees in 2006. The iniatives usually involve training and teaching workers about new ways to run business, and how to develop new ideas.
