Apple has recently removed claims that its Mac computers are safer than Windows from its website.
According to CRN, security claims such as “it doesn’t get PC viruses” have been changed to “It’s built to be safe”.
Apple has traditionally marketed its Mac computers as being safer than its Windows counterparts because Macs are not able to run software compiled for Windows without a virtual machine, dual-boot set-up or emulator.
However, an increasing number of attacks now target higher level security vulnerabilities in applications such as Flash, or through hacking websites, against which Macs have fewer security advantages over Windows.
The news also comes after a malicious piece of malware named Flashback infected around 600,000 Apple Macs. It was later revealed that hacked WordPress blogs were used to spread the malware.
