The newest version of OS X, Mountain Lion, will be available for download on July 25 in the United States, the company announced overnight.
The software will be available for download on the Mac App Store for $US19.99, and will be available for any computer running Snow Leopard and Lion.
Australian users will be able to download the software late July 25, or early on July 26.
Mountain Lion adds several new features to the operating system, including the iMessage service, along with a new notification system.
