Facebook messenger comes out of beta

Facebook will release its Messenger application out of beta, despite the original program being leaked several weeks ago.

The social network announced overnight that Messenger for Windows will emerge from beta in a few weeks’ time, with a few bugs and kinks having been fixed in the weeks since it was leaked.

Facebook put the program up for download after the leak was made public.

“Millions of people log into Facebook every day to keep up with friends. They also browse other websites and run computer programs, so it’s easy to miss important stuff,” a Facebook blog post stated.

“Maybe a cousin just posted about getting a new job, or a best friend wants to chat about dinner plans for tonight. You should be able to stay in touch anytime, no matter what you’re doing.”
