NATO has signed its largest ever cyberdefence contract, worth €58 million, announcing that the new funding will allow the NATO Computer Incident Response Capability (NCIRC) to be fully operational by the end of the year.
According to NATO, the role of the NCIRC is to detect, defend, and recover against cyber-attacks aimed at NATO member states.
The new funding will be allocated to improving information sharing about threats between members states, as well as the creation of rapid response teams.
The news comes after President Obama announced a $US769 million budget for cyberdefence operations by the Department of Homeland Security in February.
