German government recommends Chrome to small business

The German government department responsible for online security is urging small businesses to switch to Google’s Chrome web browser.

According to Computerworld, the BSI (Bundesamt fuer Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik) makes the recommendation in its latest best practice security guide for small businesses.

The BSI cites Chrome’s anti-exploit sandbox (which isolates the browser from the operating system) and its silent updates as key security reasons for small businesses to switch browsers.

At present, Chrome makes up just 14.3% of the German browser market, compared to 51% for Firefox and 24.8% for Internet Explorer.
