The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is coming up in Las Vegas later this week, and speculation is growing about what this year’s show has in store.
Already grabbing media attention is a pre-announcement by Nicholas Negroponte’s One Laptop Per Child organisation of a low cost lime green tablet to be made available by the charity for $100 to children in the developing world.
Also sparking attention in the lead up to the CES is a “glasses free” 3D television set Toshiba is reportedly planning on shipping to the US this year.
This year also marks Microsoft’s last appearance at the show, with analysts expecting the company to make key announcements about Windows 8, upgrades to the Xbox 360, as well as about its offerings in the competitive search and mobile markets.
