Apple’s strong positions in the phone and tablet markets has been underlined by a new report from US research firm NetMarketShare, which showed 52% of mobile browsing that occurred in the US during December was done on Apple devices running its iOS software.
The market share of iOS was well ahead of JavaME at 21.27% and Android at 16.2%.
The research also highlighted the continued fall of Blackberry, which now languishes with just 3.51% of the US market.
As an experiment, US website TechCrunch excluded the iPad from the figures to give a more balanced comparison in the mobile phone arena.
But the iPhone still leads the market with a 25.24% share.
