Amazon may ship about 3.9 million Kindle Fire units during the quarter, according to new estimates published by HIS iSuppli.
The figures show this would make the Kindle Fire second only to the iPad 2, which is expected to ship more than 18 million units.
This would also make the Kindle Fire the most popular Android tablet on the market.
Amazon is betting on the market for a cheap alternative to the iPad. The Kindle only costs $US200, is a smaller size and is able to browse all of Amazon’s premium content for subscribers to its paid service.
So far, Amazon has not revealed any international release date for the Kindle.
