Google pulls Gmail app after wave of criticism

Google has pulled its new iOS Gmail app from the App Store after users and developers criticised the company for the app’s design, which was interpreted as lazy and buggy.

The app itself was not much more than a copy of the web app, moved into an iOS framework – several iOS developers attacked the search and mobile giant for releasing an app they believe was not fit for download.

Others noted bugs that prevented users from actually accessing their mail and notifications.

“The iOS app we launched today contained a bug with notifications,” the Gmail Twitter feed stated. “We have pulled the app to fix the problem. Sorry we messed up.”

Developers across the internet have criticised the app, which they say is a copy of the web app and is not properly formatted for the iOS format.
