The long-anticipated Google Wallet was officially launched on Monday, with the company announcing the service in a blog post.
Google Wallet, an application on Android mobile phones that will allow touch-and-go payments from your phone, is currently running in the US, but solely on the Sprint Nexus S.
The company has said the service will be unavailable in Australia for now.
The service is marketed as a lightning-fast method of touch payment that is currently operating on all PayPass readers in the US.
Google Wallet also works in conjunction with discount and loyalty cards. Any discount offer available on the application Google Offers or offer purchased on Google Shopper will apply to the purchase, and any loyalty card that you link with Google Wallet will be “stamped” or charged appropriately.
