Hulu, the American website that allows users to watch television shows merely hours after they have aired, is now expanding into Japan in its first international expansion.
The move comes after a Hulu executive told Australian reporters last year that the company will eventually look to expand into Australia.
In a blog post, the company said that it wants to start “serving audiences around the globe”.
“With the launch of Hulu’s Japanese subscription service, for the first time entertainment fans in Japan will have access to a large selection of premium feature films and popular TV shows at any time, on four screens (PCs, TVs, mobile phones, and tablets), for one monthly price.”
“We believe Japan is a vibrant market for premium video content distribution online, and are committed to our Japanese service for the long-term.”
