The tablet market is only a short-term fad, according to remarks reportedly made by the founder of computer manufacturing firm Acer, Stan Shih.
Shih made comments over the weekend to DigiTimes that businesses must instead focus on longer-term alternatives. He also said that while Apple had been innovative in creating the iPad, PCs will still have a market in businesses and homes.
Shih also made some remarks over the company’s upcoming tablet, but also reportedly said that consumers would want to focus on low-cost alternatives.
The comments come as the tablet market is continuing to explode, particularly with the rising number of Android-based tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy and Motorola Xoom.
