Research In Motion has denied speculation that it will discontinue the PlayBook tablet, saying that the device is expanding into new countries every week.
The confirmation, which was announced on Twitter, comes as analysts have begun to doubt RIM’s future as the smartphone maker cuts forecasts due to pressure from competitors.
Boy Genius Report had reported that according to RBC Capital Markets managing director Mike Abramsky, the tablet could be discontinued due to low sales.
“Pure fiction. No plan to discontinue,” the company said. “In fact, WiFi PlayBook is launching in new countries practically every week.”
