Twitter will start adding paid tweets to timelines during the next few months as it ramps up its advertising strategy, All Things Digital has reported.
The publication states that while paid tweets are already part of the Twitter infrastructure, the new system will allow companies to send paid tweets to their followers and ensure they show up at the top of their searches and lists.
However, Twitter has said to advertisers that it will limit the amount of tweets that will go out to each follower.
“We are taking a deliberate and thoughtful approach with our advertising platform. As that platform evolves, we will continue to focus on delivering value for both marketers and users,” the company reportedly said in a statement.
