The Research in Motion PlayBook tablet will launch in Australia on June 20, and will be available at Harvey Norman stores and a range of telcos on carrier plans, the company has announced.
The gadget will launch costing $579, but Vodafone, Optus and Telstra will likely bundle the device in plans with a cheaper ongoing cost.
The device will come with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB versions, while all designs are powered by a 1Ghz dual-core processor and a seven-inch screen. It also features 1GB of RAM, an accelerometer, gyroscope and a compass.
“The launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook is a highly anticipated event for both consumers and business users in Australia and we are proud to deliver this standout tablet to the marketplace,” RIM Australia managing director Adele Beachley said in a statement.
“We are excited to provide customers with the opportunity to check out the BlackBerry PlayBook first hand at their carriers’ stores or retailers across the country.”
